Why are we called the "Nest"

The choice of bird and nest imagery was very intentional when choosing a name for our therapy practice.

A nest is a symbol of home, safety, and nurturing. It can also represent new beginnings, growth, and the cycle of life.

The robin is a symbol of new beginnings and fresh starts. Its appearance in springtime is often seen as a sign of hope and renewal. In some cultures, the robin is also associated with joy and happiness. Its bright red breast is said to represent the life force and vitality of the bird.

In addition, the practice was also named after our founder, Robin.

Whether you are building your own nest, transitioning nests, turning into an empty nester or working to build a strong and safe nest on your own, we are here every step of the way.

The Full Story of

Nest Family Counselling

Nest Family Counselling was founded to support individuals, couples and families through transition.  In session, we use empathy, practical solution-focused orientation, therapeutic interventions, humour, and compassion to help clients drive sustainable change in their lives.

Nest Family Counselling has been serving Sherwood Park and the surrounding area since 2019.  We offer accessible, ethical and affordable access to mental health counselling.  Years before opening her clinic, Robin found herself in a place of transition and struggled to find a therapist who understood the complications that families in transition experience when changing their Nest.  Using a unique lens of personal experience and specialized training through family courts, she opened a clinic that is founded on helping individuals navigate complex relationships, divorce/separation, co-parenting, grief and other challenging situations.

We believe in the ability to change and hold positive regard for every individual who walks through our doors.  Our judgment-free space allows clients to feel comfortable to share their stories.
