Frequently Asked Questions

I'm not sure what to book?

The counselling category is related to the automated intake form and it doesn't necessarily need to direct the conversation.  For example, you can book in for individual therapy and talk about relationships, careers, grief, family, etc.  A general rule of thumb is that if you are attending alone, select individual therapy.  If there is more than 1 participant, you can select the category that most represent the relationship (ie. family members can choose family, relationships choose relationships and co-parents select co-parenting).  If that category of counselling needs to be adjusted, that can happen in session.

Are you accepting new clients?

We are currently accepting new clients!  We close new bookings throughout the year to ensure that our current clientele doesn't have exaggerated timelines to access care.  When the books are closed to new clients, this booking page will be updated informing you of such.

I can't seem to book in at my ideal time. What can I do?

As long as you are looking to book within business hours, we can help.  The best way to ensure your ideal session date/time is to book ahead!  Evening appointments are often in high demand.  The first option is to put your name on a waitlist.  This automatically informs us that you want a specific time slot and you are notified when this booking time opens.  Additionally, you can email us at contact@nestfamilycounselling and communicate your preferred date and time and we can look into it further and hopefully accommodate your request!

Do you offer Child Counselling?

We do not provide child counselling, however, we do provide parental support for parents looking for strategies to help support their children!

What information do I need to provide to make an initial booking?

You will need to provide your first and last name, your email address and a credit card to store on file. This card will not be charged until the time of the appointment.  An intake form will be forwarded to the email provided on file.  This MUST be completed before the session.  Informed consent is a legal requirement for health care providers.

How does billing work?

At your appointment time, the session fee will be charged to the credit card on file.  If you wish to use an additional form of payment, let us know at the beginning of the session and we can change payment methods.

Do you direct bill?

We do not directly bill insurance providers.  We issue a PDF copy of your invoice at the time of the session that can be submitted to your benefit provider for reimbursement.

Are you covered by my benefits?

Benefits are employer-specific and not provider-specific.  Therefore, it is important that you understand what your specific provider has chosen for coverage.  In Alberta, psychologists, Canadian Certified Counsellors and Social Workers are regulated professionals that are covered under respective benefit plans.
