Child Counselling
Child counselling is a therapeutic process that helps children understand and manage their emotions, behaviours, and life challenges. Through talk therapy and creative techniques, therapists support children in developing coping skills, improving self-esteem, and navigating issues like anxiety, trauma, family changes, or social difficulties. The goal is to foster emotional well-being and resilience.
Areas of focus that fall under the booking umbrella of Youth counselling include the following:
A Note on Attendance
Child counselling is reserved for clients ages 2-11 (youth counselling is ages 12-17). An Initial Parent Meeting is required prior to booking the child client their first visit. All returning visits can be booked online as a returning client. 1 guardian is required to attend the initial parent meeting.
We require a signature from both biological parents (or a court order indicating sole custody or guardianship) PRIOR to the child attending counselling.

Anxiety & Fears
Helping children manage excessive worry, separation anxiety, or specific fears in a supportive, age-appropriate way.

Bullying (victim or aggressor)
Helping children build confidence, set boundaries, and process the emotional effects of bullying.

Grief & Loss
Helping children process the loss of a loved one, pet, or other significant change in a developmentally appropriate way.

Social Skills & Peer Relationships
Helping children build empathy, make friends, and navigate social challenges in positive, respectful ways

Attention & Focus
Supporting children in improving focus, impulse control, and emotional regulation, while helping parents understand their needs.

Changes In Family Structure
Supporting children through transitions such as divorce, separation, or blending families, and helping them adjust emotionally.

Low Self Esteem or Self-Confidence
Building a child’s sense of worth, capability, and confidence in themselves and their relationships.

Trauma
Providing a safe space to process past or ongoing trauma through gentle, child-centered therapeutic approaches.

Behavioural Challenges
Exploring the root causes of acting out, aggression, or defiance and developing healthier ways to express needs and emotions.

Emotional Regulation
Teaching children how to identify, understand, and manage big emotions like anger, sadness, or frustration.

School Stress or struggles
Supporting children who experience anxiety, overwhelm, or difficulty socially or academically at school.
