“Enter into children’s play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts, and souls meet.”— Virginia Axline

Hi, I’m Claire! I’m a mom of two, a wife, a child therapist, and an avid learner. I know firsthand how full life can feel. Between work, caring for your children, scheduling appointments, running kids to activities, and carrying the constant mental load, it’s still easy to find yourself questioning whether you’re doing enough as a parent. Seeing your child struggle is hard, especially when you’re unsure how to help. You might be noticing big emotions, worries that don’t seem to go away, difficulties with friends, anger outbursts, withdrawal, or sleep challenges. As parents, we want our children to thrive as they grow into adulthood. As a child therapist, my goal is to create a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe enough to express themselves, and where parents feel like partners in the process.

I specialize in working with children ages 3–11 and support familiesthrough challenges such as emotional regulation difficulties, transitions and life changes (including separation or divorce), social struggles, stress or trauma-related responses, and understanding what a child may be communicating through their behavior. When one family member is struggling, it often affects the whole family, and I aim to support families in finding balance, understanding, and healing together.

I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (#21021) and am currently completing a Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD). I am a play therapy intern working toward certification with the Canadian Association of Play Therapy, a Certified AutPlay Practitioner, a Certified EMDR Therapist, and a Certified Safe and Sound Protocol Provider. I also work as a Clinical Supervisor with CASA Mental Health, where I support and mentor other therapists in providing child therapy. I live in Sherwood Park with my husband, our two children, our dog, and my dad in a multi-generational household. As both a therapist and a parent, I understand how deeply parents want their children to feel safe, connected, and confident in who they are.

Training and Education

Having completed play therapy training for certification with the CAPT through the Maritime Play Therapy Center, I am currently completing my supervision hours with a Certified Play Therapist Supervisor!

I work from a neurodiversity-affirming approach, and have completed training and obtained certification in Autplay Therapy.

I am also a certified EMDR therapist, EMDRIA consultant-in-training, and EMDR Child Specialist.

I have a special interest in animal-assisted therapy and have completed the Level 2 Foundations course for

Equine Therapy under the guidance of Sue MacIntosh at Healing Hooves and is currently pursuing certification with Pro-EFW!

My History

A small bit about me! I live in Sherwood Park, a community I love, my partner, our two children, and our pup. When not working, I love spending time with my family, whether that is going to soccer or dance, playing, going to the park, taking our dog to the off-leash, watching Hilda, or seeing family and friends. I have an absolute love for horses and am passionate about relationship-based horsemanship, and while I enjoy riding, my favorite is spending time with my horse, grooming, groundwork, and doing liberty together.
